Xcel Bronze-Diamond

The USA Gymnastics Xcel program was developed as an alternative competitive program offering individual flexibility to coaches and gymnasts. The goal of Xcel is to provide gymnasts of varying abilities and commitment levels the opportunity for a rewarding gymnastics experience. The program allows a wide choice in skills to meet requirements so selection may be based on an individual athlete’s strengths. The focus of the Xcel program is sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and fun. The emphasis in the Xcel program is on correct technique, form, and performance
Levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Sapphire
The Women’s Development Program (WDP) was created with the belief that all athletes, regardless of their potential, must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely.
This program requires specific foundational milestones in order to advance to the next level thus requiring a more demanding time and personal commitment to the sport.
DP Levels:
Introductory Compulsory: Levels 1-3
Compulsory- Levels 4 & 5
The Talent Opportunity Program (TOPS) is under the direction of the International Elite Committee (IEC). This program provides early screening and identification of talented athletes, along with educational programming for coaches.
WHO: To participate in the TOPS program, an athlete must meet the below criteria:
Ages 8, 9 and 10.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the TOPS National Program is to build physical abilities and technically sound fundamentals for 8-10 year old female athletes. While strength and flexibility continue to develop, the athletes will learn compulsory routines which include the root skills required for elite level development. Form, execution, and shapes are the primary focus of this program.
GOALS: The TOPS Program is the beginning of the path for an elite athlete. Whether an athlete chooses the elite path or the Development Program path, the TOPS program will assist in developing a well-prepared athlete as she moves forward.
The USA Gymnastics (USAG) HOPES program is
a pre-elite competitive track for talented female gymnasts ages 10–14, designed to bridge the gap between Development Program (DP) level 10 and Junior Elite. It offers high-level optional competition experience, specialized training camps, and qualification pathways for championships, focusing on technical excellence.
Target Audience: Promising young gymnasts, typically ages 10-14, aiming to transition into the Junior/Senior Elite level.
Competition Structure: Participants compete in both traditional elite compulsory routines (testing fundamental skills) and modified FIG optional routines.
Qualification: Gymnasts must pass specific compulsory and optional qualifiers at designated national meets to achieve necessary mobilization scores.
Opportunities: HOPES gymnasts gain access to elite developmental training camps and coaches, working alongside USAG National Team Staff
Goal: To prepare athletes for competition in the U.S. Classic and Hopes Championships, acting as a stepping stone to the elite level
